Ministry Preview

Summary

The War is an exciting three-night event for teens brought to your church by the Minutemen Evangelistic Team. The team brings all the equipment for the event, performs all of the setup and preparation, and spends two days "recruiting" young people from the schools and community to come to the event. The team also leads the three-night event itself, running the exciting competitions and partnering with your church people to create an enjoyable atmosphere and thereby to open their hearts for the message. The goal of each night is to clearly present the gospel and invite young people to trust Christ as their Savior.

Public Schools

The team seeks to invite students from public schools in the area as well as the community.

Reaching Unreached Lives

Reach an often-neglected segment of the community that needs the gospel.

Generate New Contacts

Teens who come provide contact information you can use for continued ministry.

Teen-oriented Fun

All of the competitions are geared towards teens in a way they will enjoy.

Epic Competitions

Many of the events are larger-than-life, like Big Ball Volleyball, Spoke Tackle, and Tug of War over the Mud Pit.

Inclusive Activities

Teens don't need to be a sports star to have fun in these competitions. Everyone can have fun!

Clean Humor

Comedy sketches each night provide family-friendly humor that teens will actually want to laugh at.

Controlled Atmosphere

Even with large crowds, the team is capable of keeping things under control.

High Energy

The event is full of opportunities for teens to be loud, to lose themselves, and to open their hearts.

Testimony & Song

Near the conclusion, the event turns to the gospel with a testimony and song from the team.

Biblical Preaching

The evangelist presents a clear, engaging, and forthright message on the gospel.

Thorough Invitation

Teens are invited to respond to the message and speak to a counselor, where they trust Christ.

Our Goal: Reaching Teens with the Gospel

  • Declaring the gospel to lost teens.
  • Inviting teens to trust Christ.
  • Opening doors into lives, schools, and families.

Schedule

The team schedules meetings from June to August each year. Each meeting runs from Sunday through Friday.

Kickoff Service

The team runs the Sunday evening service, sharing special music, testimonies, and how the church can best be involved in the week. Brother Austin will challenge the church through the sermon.

Prep and Recruiting

The team sets up the field and decorates the "War Room." The team also works with schools during the day and spends their entire afternoons and evenings "recruiting" teens in the community.

The War Nights

Each night from 6-9pm, the event features exciting competition, free food, comedy, trivia, and much more to engage the teens. The night concludes with a gospel message and invitation.

The Team

The team consists of Evangelist Austin Brownlee and two college-aged young men. Austin and the young men will need lodging.

Finances

The team does not have a set fee, but we do suggest an honorarium of $1,500 to cover fuel and other team expenses. We also suggest taking up a separate love offering for the Evangelist and his family. Other financial considerations would include food for the teen meals during the evening events and fuel for recruiting vehicles during the week.

Facilities

We suggest having access to a level field of about 75 ft. square for the outdoor competitions and a room in the church that can seat anywhere from 60–150 teens.

Follow-Up

The team will leave all registration and decision cards with the church so that you can have continued ministry with those who came and trusted Christ.

Austin Brownlee

David Cripps

Pastor, Victory Baptist Church

For more than 40 years, The War, in its various forms, has been a tremendous outreach tool to teenagers in their local communities. I have experienced this ministry and its impact as a teenager and pastor. The War provides local churches with a unique opportunity to attract and share the gospel with young people who otherwise may never hear a salvation message clearly presented. The Minutemen Evangelistic team do a phenomenal job of partnering with local churches, reaching out to unchurched young people, and using a variety of unique activities, spirited competition, and clear biblical preaching to impact the next generation for Christ. I highly recommend The War to any church that desires to see young people's lives changed by the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Shawn Cuthbertson

Evangelist

I want to take the time to give my full and confident recommendation for The War Team. Minutemen Ministries brought the War to our church, Liberty Baptist in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on three different occasion. I can honestly say that the meeting was not only the most successful effort we have had in reaching young people for Christ, but it probably did more for our church as a whole than any other meeting we ever had. I do not believe that any church who has The War Team in will be disappointed in that decision.
